Carréducker Trunk Show May 9th

If you’re anywhere near the vicinity of the West Village on Saturday May 9th I highly encourage you to come by and view the shoes of carréducker. Both Deborah Carré and James Ducker will be here and James will be demonstrating hand sewing, which in itself is worth the trip. This is the first showing of the carréducker collection in New York City and it promises to be a great event.

To get a sense of their passion for handmade shoe making I recommend watching this video of James in their London studio.

I am unsure of how much of a “master” shoemaker Mrs. Carre and Mr. Ducker are. From this video, he’s welt-sewing very slowly. I’ve seen Vass, Corthay, and JM Weston cobblers sew welts faster. Plus, they seem way too young to have attain the skills to be called a master shoemaker.

    Tim,
It’s not how fast you can welt a shoe it’s how well you do it.
