Edward Green MTO

Last week we had the pleasure of visiting the Edward Green factory in Northampton, England. What you realize as you watch and talk with the men and women that make the shoes is that shoes are only as good as the people who make them.

To make great shoes you need great people. These are highly skilled and talented craftsmen that take tremendous pride in what they do and it shows.

Thank you Hilary Freeman and the staff at Edward Green for your unwavering dedication to quality and tradition it is truly inspiring.

Alden Saddle Shoes

We’re back from vacation and what a treat to have these new saddle shoes arrive. Made expressly for Leffot by Alden, saddle shoes are as American as it gets and black and whiskey is a great combination. We designed these on natural plantation crepe soles for all day comfort and all weather wear-ability.

I wore my Color 8 saddle shoes around London and Paris to rave reviews it’s just such a classic look and I couldn’t help but notice the prevalence of American products in both cities.

Alden Westsider Boot

Our latest Alden make up is just the ticket for spring. These handsome monk-strap boots are made in buttery soft burnished tan calfskin, what a great color and feel.

We wanted these boots “Made Expressly for Leffot” to have the ability to dress up a bit which is why we commissioned them on the Plaza last Alden’s soft square toe. These are perfect with gray and navy worsted wool and of course as always, dark denim.

Alfred Sargent Trunk Show

You are cordially invited to join us Thursday April 21st from 11am-7pm when Chay Cooper presents Alfred Sargent’s Handgrade Collection. The collection offers a choice of three Lasts, a square toe, a classic almond shaped round toe and a soft square allowing the customer to pick any of the styles on their preferred toe shape.

A full selection of width fittings is also available. With hand painted Oak Bark, Fiddleback sole waists as standard these elegant handmade shoes can also be personalized with your name in the lining and initials in brass nails in the waist can also be requested.

Each pair is enclosed in a bespoke box with dust bags and includes the same polish used in the factory in order to assist in maintaining the patina. These are among the finest English made shoes.

This particular show takes on more significance, as it is the debut of the “new” AS Handgrade sole. It is quite a lot narrower in the waist and features a V shaped heel but retains the fiddleback sole at the same time. This new sole elevates the level of the AS Hangrade yet again and speaks to their desire to push the envelope.

We’ve seen the continual progress and refinements they’ve made, which has enhanced their footwear to arguably one of the finest contemporary English made shoes today. In fact we’d be hard pressed to name an English shoe designer more talented than Tony Gaziano.

As spring approaches we begin re-stocking Gaziano & Girling ready to wear shoes. Six models in all will be available this season beginning with these two handsome devils Burlington & Walkton.

We invite you to join us for our spring Trunk Show on April 7th from 11am-7pm as Tony Gaziano presents the New York debut of their highly awaited Deco Range. Orders will be accepted for all Made to Order, Deco and Bespoke shoes at the event, we hope to see you there.

New Horween x Leffot Elston Belt

What is a belt? Is it merely a device to hold your pants up, we think not after all you could wear suspenders for that. Done well in quality leather it’s that detail of clothing like quality shoes, which enhance your outfit. And at the end of the day doesn’t it all come down to the details? We mixed it up a bit with these new Horween x Leffot Elston belts.

The first is Double Shoulders Wooly Chromexcel in Black 9/10 oz. weight with Scotch grain print and Nickel roller buckle. Wooly Chromexcel is hardy leather made to wear for years and the Scotch grain print ads texture and shows less wear. This is the ideal belt to wear with the Rider Boot Co. Black Grain Chukka

Black Grain Wooly Chromexcel, Nickel Roller Buckle, 40 mm Width

Belts are measured in the following way.

The second is Illini Latigo in Burgundy 7/8 oz weight with antiqued brass roller buckle. Latigo leather is full grain, fat liquored, mill dyed, pasted, hand glazed and aniline finished. That’s a lot of processes and the result is a beautiful smooth strap in a deep *pull up burgundy. This belt is an excellent less formal alternative to a shell cordovan belt and looks great with color 8 cordovan shoes or boots.

Burgundy Illini Latigo, Antiqued Brass Roller Buckle, 35 mm Width

*Pull-up – A temporary lightening in color achieved by bending leather. This is caused by the temporary displacement of oils, greases, and/or waxes. – Horween Leather.

Quoddy Maliseet

Quoddy hand sews all their shoes and boots in Maine just as they have for the past 100 years. No cement or glue is used, each pair is lined in deerskin from heel to toe, and have padded leather sock linings that gently cushion your feet.

These shoes are so much more than they appear to be. A simple boat shoe they are not. In fact they aren’t really boat shoes at all, they’re moccasins with rubber soles. These are finely crafted shoes built by highly skilled hand sewers that get better looking and feeling with wear. Just because they’re casual doesn’t mean they aren’t quality.

Spring Chukka

Spring is edging ever so close time to start thinking about changing gears a bit. Aden’s unlined Snuff suede chukka is an ideal transition shoe. They’re unbelievably soft, lightweight and flexible plus they’re great looking so what’s not to like?

Oh and one more thing these boots are made on Alden’s Flex Welt soles. The sole leather is oil dipped to increase flexibility and create a water-lock that keeps dampness out, which make them ideal for city, country and travel.
