Spring Shoes

Seems like we’re over the hump and safely into spring, if your struggling with footwear options we’d like to offer a few suggestions. Casual doesn’t have to look sloppy in fact a smart casual shoe is an excellent choice for a dress down workday. Suede chukkas or a cordovan loafer for instance with slacks and a blazer is classic, sporty and appropriate. And a pair of deck shoes with shorts or khakis is an excellent alternative to sneakers or flip-flops. There are a lot of options out there so don’t be surprised when you see work boots with cargo shorts.

Top Drawer Beaulieu

“Top Drawer” the words themselves conjure an air of distinction; so it’s by no small accident that Edward Green Top Drawer shoes have finishings among the finest of their kind. The Top Drawer program is an excellent choice if you fit comfortably in an EG last and desire finer finishings without going full bespoke.

Most models can be crafted TD which features a tighter and pronounced beveled waist, spade soles and finely turned edges at the waist. Edward Green shoes are oh so sweet, which makes Top Drawer the icing on the cake.

Take Ivy

“Take Ivy,” is a photo-book released in 1965 featuring photos by T. Hayashida of Ivy League campuses. The book is considered to be the bible of the Ivy League look in Japan. Thus inspired we created our original Leffot “Ivy” loafer in homage to the coolest loafer of the sixties, the “Venetian”.

Clean, smooth and simple this loafer is much more than it appears to be on the surface. Made of  Genuine Horween unlined shell cordovan they are incredibly supple, flexible and light, a joy to slip on and loaf around in. The amount of handwork that goes into a simple pair like these is staggering. Made in Maine and completely hand sewn these shoes are made on true moccasin construction so your feet are wrapped in cordovan top and bottom. In addition it takes the sewer 70% more time to sew a cordovan shoe because there is simply NO margin for error.

Unlined shell cordovan loafers are not easily found. We think you’ll agree these may well be the perfect shoe for spring and summer wear.

These shoes are available in Natural, Dark Cognac, Navy and Color 6 in US sizes Medium widths.

Rider Boot Co. Trunk Show And Ivy

Ron Rider rolls into the Big Apple Friday and Saturday for a Rider Boot Co. trunk show. Ron pulls out all the stops when it comes to samples, leathers and colors. This show will be quite a treat as Ron introduces several great looking new models, many seen for the first time here. There will be plenty to look at and Ron and I will be on hand to assist you with made to order boots. If you’re a boot guy or gal you won’t want to miss it.

The Rider show also marks the debut of our new Leffot “Ivy” Loafer in Horween unlined shell cordovan. These loafers are handsewn in Maine, and true moccasin construction. This is our first Leffot shoe, which we collaborated with Ron Rider on; needless to say we’re very excited about them. Here’s a sneak peek to wet you whistle. The Ivy will be available at the show in unglazed natural (shown) with navy, dark cognac, and color 6 coming soon.

The Borsalino Small Brim

These small brim hats are very light and flexible, which means they’re comfortable and cool. They’re 90% paper fiber and 10% hemp, which is also cool. Small brims can be worn up or down but in our opinion up is the only way to fly.

First Impressions

Venerable English shoemaker Alfred Sargent has been crafting men’s footwear in Northamptonshire since 1899, so it’s big-time news that they’ve recently introduced a very impressive new Handgrade collection. We are pleased to announce our partnership with Alfred Sargent and debut their pulchritudinous new collection available in the United States exclusively at Leffot.

You only get one chance to make a first impression so you have to make it count. Alfred Sargent understands this, which is why they have chosen to present this new collection in a very smart and luxurious drawer box. It says a lot about the pride and craftsmanship that goes into the making of these shoes.

Like the egg, which protects the chick, this box encases your shoes and more. This is a serious size box with a leather pull tab embossed “AS” and outfitted with extra shoelaces, Saphir wax, an AS shoe horn and dust bags. Each shoe rests separately in its individual compartment ensuring they wont scuff each other.

You may be asking yourself why the box not the shoes? Good question, the answer is simple, we wanted to make a point. It says a lot about a company the way they pay attention to the seemingly smaller details. If they put that much time and attention into the packaging you can imagine the detail in their shoe making. I can assure it’s significant, we’ve received our first pairs of made to order shoes and they rocked, we’ll have pictures and much more to say about them next few days. Personally I can hardly wait for my pair of purple suede derby’s.

The Kaber

Our newest Church’s model is actually quite old. It’s an archival style we asked Church’s to remake for us and is available exclusively at Leffot. This shoe is quite unique and has loads of style, it’s a loafer, monk strap, kiltie and brogue all in one the only thing it’s missing is laces and a zipper.

The Spectator

These Cadogan’s are quite simply the snappiest pair of Edward Green shoes we’ve ordered to date. I love this color combination; it’s stylish, versatile and can be worn year around. My first choice for spectators is usually a wingtip but the Cadogan is perhaps the best of the cap toes in the EG collection. I’ll be giving serious thought about adding a pair to my stable.

Spectators tend to work best with shoes that have an odd number of leather pieces, three or five being the optimal numbers. In this case three Black and two Maple. If your not comfortable wearing a pair of shoes in two colors remember that spectators can be the same color in different materials such as leather and suede, Scotch grain or twill. We love spectators; yes they’re less formal but they’re extremely stylish, and guaranteed to garner favorable comments. I’m quite certain Mr. R in Indianapolis will receive many in this pair.
