The Green Giant

There’s perhaps no other shoe in the store that draws as much attention as this magnificent pair of Corthay, Cocteau in “Vert Bronze”. The color is amazing blending shades of green with what can only be described as flecks of bronze dust. I sell this shoe well to men that enjoy setting themselves apart from others with there own sense of style.

Once you get past the color itself, its the details that start to take hold, the scalloped vamp, the wider lace stance of the bottom lace, for that matter the matching color of the lace. These shoes when brought to daylight have a kind of iridescence that catches the eye of anyone who passes by.

I would wear them with dark gray, dark blue or black and coordinate them with accessories i.e. a pair of cuff links, a stripe or pattern in a shirt or tie or a scarf. This shoe has serious attitude and deserves to be played for all its worth.

The Time for Suede

Fall is full of texture, wool, cashmere, flannel, and suede all rich and all beautiful. Suede is made from the under side of the skin as a result it has a nap either short or longer and is softer on the foot. Many people admire it and it reached its pinnacle of desire in the 1950′s when Blue Suede Shoes were highly sung about.

As Carl Perkins sang “You can do anything, but stay off of those blue suede shoes.” Sure they’re a little delicate but they’re just so chic. We have several suede or suede and leather combination styles but in my mind it’s the Bamford by Edward Green for me.

In Coffee suede and the subtlest medallion on the toe this is one very chic shoe. However if you just have to have a pair in blue suede, Edward Green does offer the color as an MTO and I’m happy waive the make up charge to the first person to order any pair of shoes in Blue Suede. (these happened to belong to Elvis).

GQ the West Village and Leffot

The October issue of GQ is on newsstands today. I’m particularly excited about the article; From “Cute” to Cool-the Rise of the West Village, because it includes Leffot on pages 134 & 136, calling us “A dangerous place” which I think they mean in a good way. It lists several other cool spots for shopping, drinks and food, many of which I eat at. The WV is one of Manhattan’s hottest neighborhoods and most confusing, they even include a small map to help guide you. Pick up a copy and enjoy the neighborhood.

The Aubercy Wholecut

What I find most appealing about a wholecut shoe is the simplicity and formality. Made from a single piece of leather there a no other lines to distract the eye. It is also a very comfortable fit because there are no other seams that might cause pressure on a particular spot of the foot.

This pair by Aubercy is not only elegant but also extremely lightweight and flexible on the feet. The wholecut in black is a perfect shoe for a suit, simple, elegant, and dressy.

The Monmouth

The Monmouth by Edward Green is the perfect example of an English shoe that is not afraid to be just that. The extended storm welted double leather souls gives this shoe a strong masculine look, beautifully hand brogued and pinked.  Crafted in rich Dark Oak it’s a combination that makes this a great all around Derby. Very handsome with a navy or gray suit at the office or as I always say, “With a pair of jeans”.

Simply Weston

This J.M. Weston 3 eyelet derby is making its debut on the blog. I’m not really sure why I haven’t posted it before now. It’s a very popular style at Leffot not just because of it’s sleek lines and plain almost boot looking toe, it’s also a very comfortable fitting shoe. A tapered toe but generous across the ball.

This is another style from the Conti line designed by Michel Perry for J.M. Weston.

Some Shoes I Wear III

I’ve been holding off on wearing this pair of Gaziano & Girling Mitchell’s in Vintage Maple until today, I could hold off no longer. I’m wearing them with a pair of dark blue A.P.C. “New Standard” jeans and the color looks great, not to mention how comfortable they feel.

I know I’ve said this before but the fit of the G&G’s are amazing, I love the way they hug the arch and the suppleness of the leather. I wanted to start wearing these in before Dean Girling arrives for our Trunk Show on the 24th but; the way they feel I don’t think it’ll be an issue.

Spanning the Globe

It pleases me very much that Leffot is receiving attention not only in the U.S. but also around the world. Spice Magazine India’s #1 luxury & lifestyle publication has included us in its September issue. Thank you Spice for this very prominent article, we are very happy to be included in your fine publication.

Plain Jack

It’s perhaps the plainest most nondescript shoe in the store but I like it. It’s industrial, workman like and no nonsense, an “Ugly Betty” if you will. A shoe to wear with a uniform perhaps but slip in a pair of dress laces and shine these babies up and the goose becomes a swan, well at least a shinier goose.

But that’s the point not all shoes need to be all things. This is a pair to wear casually with traditional khakis, or skinny jeans. It is as blank a canvas as you can imagine. So don’t discount simplicity, and like all shoes they always look best on the foot.
