Chicago

February 7 – 8
10 am – 6 pm

Join us as we host Naoki Nakagawa, also known as Nacky, for his first trunk show in Chicago. Nacky makes some of the finest eyewear available. He’ll bring with him samples for sale, and will also take orders for MTO and bespoke.

Nacky began working in the eyewear world as a salesman. When he couldn’t find glasses he would wear himself, he decided to learn to make his own. He trained in Fukui, the home of eyeglasses in Japan. In 2004, after 8 years building a base of knowledge in manufacturing, designing, and retail, Nackymade was born.

Nackymade is all about glasses that fit well, are designed creatively, and crafted with love and care. Nacky respects the traditional way of making spectacles, and uses the best materials, such as Japanese plastic acetate and European antiques. He always tries to create something new and interesting, going so far as developing his own materials.

Chicago

December 9
12 am – 6 pm

Join us Friday as we host bespoke watch specialists Titan Black in our Chicago store. Founder Luke Waite will be here to present the collection.

Titan Black takes the world’s finest watches and modifies them to create truly personal timepieces. They specialize in working on Rolexes, applying a variety of modifications to bring you an outstanding creation whose rarity and allure speaks for itself. The hands, dial, and body can be customized to your liking.

A key part of this process includes treating the watches with a diamond-like carbon coating. This gives the watch the desirable properties of diamond: hardness and durability. Uniquely, this process, as well as most other changes to the watch, can be reversed.

If you’re looking for a truly special watch, Titan Black makes them like no other. As a gift, even to yourself, it cannot be matched. Not only is a Titan Black wristwatch already branded a masterpiece in its own right, due to its legendary genetics, but on top of this, its superb finish and customized features makes it patently exceptional.

Corthay trunk show, September 23 and 24

You are cordially invited to join us for a trunk show with Corthay on September 23 and 24.

Corthay is arguably one of France’s most dynamic shoemakers. His shoes are elegant and ultra sophisticated, like small works of art. He began his shoemaking career at Les Compagnons du Tour de France, a venerable crafts guild. He later worked for John Lobb Paris before taking over as atelier head at Berluti. In 1990 he struck out on his own and has not looked back.

In 2010 he was awarded the honor of “Master of Art” by the government of France. The Master of Art designation of France, while not widely known in the States, is not bestowed lightly. In short, it means that the individual or firm is a cultural icon.

Fall Trunk Shows

We’ve begun to put our fall trunk show schedule together. We organize trunk shows with our vendors twice a year. They are a fantastic opportunity to meet the artisans or their representatives who are extremely knowledgeable about their products. It is also an excellent chance to see first-hand many sample styles for custom orders.

This year we’re particularly excited to host several trunk shows in our upcoming Chicago location. As always, we’ll have a full slate of shows here in New York. More dates will be posted to our events page as they’re confirmed.

Chicago Trunk Shows
Edward Green — October 24 and 25
Saint Crispin’s — November 14 and 15

New York Trunk Shows
Edward Green — October 27 and 28
Saint Crispin’s — November 17 and 18

Hiro Yanagimachi Trunk Show, May 13 and 14

You are cordially invited to join us on May 13 and 14 for Hiro Yanagimachi’s first North American trunk show. He will be taking orders for made-to-order and made-to-measure. A variety of samples will be on hand, as well as fitting shoes so you can determine your size.

Hiro offers a line with machine-stitched soles, as well as a fully handmade line. You’ll be able to create a shoe from over 45 models and 50 leathers. Fit and pattern modifications are also available. For more information about his offerings, as well as pricing, see this post on his website.

Since 1999, Hiro has been making hand-welted bespoke shoes in the English tradition. Trained at the London Cordwainers College, he learned the techniques and culture of bespoke shoemaking at places such as John Lobb.

In 2012 he began offering a made-to-order line, and until recently has focused on making shoes for local customers in Japan. This trunk show will be the first time he’s offered his MTO and MTM program to the North American market.
