Corthay Made to Order
Estimated delivery, options, models, pricing.
- Find your size
This is the most important step in the process. If you’d like to order from a brand you’ve never worn, we recommend you come to the store to be fitted.
- Large and small sizes are available, as well as wide and narrow widths. Certain brands, such as Saint Crispin’s, allow for small adjustments in fit.
- Select your shoe
You may have a specific design in mind already. If you don’t, that’s okay. We will help you choose a shoe that will meet your needs and desires. You’ll be able to select from a range of models, lasts, materials, colors, and soles.
We take a 50% deposit when the order is placed. The remaining balance is due upon delivery.
Delivery times vary by brand, and range from eight weeks to six months. You will receive an estimated delivery date upon ordering your shoes. If there’s a delay during production, we’ll let you know.
- Which brands offer MTO?
We offer our MTO service with Corthay, Edward Green, Gaziano & Girling, John Lobb, Norman Vilalta, Quoddy, and Saint Crispin’s. We are unable to offer MTOs with Alden, Enzo Bonafè, Viberg, and Wolverine.
- What about bespoke?
Ninety-nine point nine percent of the population wear shoes made on lasts that have not been drawn from their own feet. Unless you have a specific physical need, you should be able to find a last that will fit your feet comfortably.
- Bespoke shoes are made directly with the shoemaker. This is a process that takes up to one year to complete, and is generally much more costly than MTO. We do not offer bespoke fittings.
- Should I wait for a trunk show?
Orders for MTO shoes can be placed at any time. We keep a full range of leather swatches available in our shop year-round. However, trunk shows are an excellent way to meet representatives from our brands and view new or upcoming models.
- What is the return policy?
Since MTOs are made expressly for you, all MTOs are final sale. For that reason, (and the fact that our goal is for you to have a wonderful pair of shoes), we take great care when advising you.
- What should I make?
If you’re looking for inspiration, the MTO archives on our blog are a good place to start browsing. Many of our made-to-order shoes are documented there. You’ll find a range of styles that by no means should be considered a limit to what’s possible — only a starting point.
