Grained Leather

Some leathers garner more attention than others. The order is something like this; calfskin, suede, grained leathers. There are several versions of grained leather that range from light texture to heavy. Grained leather is stamped which makes the leather slightly suppler particularly with deeper grains.

It can be used in a variety of ways to create various effects. A light grain on a dress shoe adds a subtle finish, and mixing it with calfskin or suede creates a somewhat rakish effect.

For wearing in the county or the elements an all grained shoe with rubber soles is hard to beat. Here is an assortment of shoes and boots made in grained leathers by Edward Green, Gaziano & Girling and Alden.
