The Spectator

These Cadogan’s are quite simply the snappiest pair of Edward Green shoes we’ve ordered to date. I love this color combination; it’s stylish, versatile and can be worn year around. My first choice for spectators is usually a wingtip but the Cadogan is perhaps the best of the cap toes in the EG collection. I’ll be giving serious thought about adding a pair to my stable.

Spectators tend to work best with shoes that have an odd number of leather pieces, three or five being the optimal numbers. In this case three Black and two Maple. If your not comfortable wearing a pair of shoes in two colors remember that spectators can be the same color in different materials such as leather and suede, Scotch grain or twill. We love spectators; yes they’re less formal but they’re extremely stylish, and guaranteed to garner favorable comments. I’m quite certain Mr. R in Indianapolis will receive many in this pair.

Two by Two

We received a delivery of Edward Green MTO’s and immediately realized a very interesting coincidence. All of the pairs had a fraternal twin, a mate or partner if you will in the parlance of our times.

This group really got me psyched; there are some very special shoes here.

A Mere Spectator

We’ve placed orders for several spectators, but none more than the Edward Green Cadogan. Until now we’ve only ordered them in black and white but this pair really stands out. Our client Mr. N. was beaming when he slipped these bad boys on, and rightly so. Incidentally he has a black and white pair on the way. Job well done Mr. N. you’re in very good company.

Sonny Side Up

I was watching The Godfather last night for the umpteenth time, when I suddenly saw something I’d never noticed, Sonny Corleone wearing a very snappy pair of black and white spectators. The shots are fast and too distant to say they’re the EG Cadogan but I’ll be damned if they aren’t close. What do you think?

I guess the only way I’ll find out is to “Make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

The Shepton Edwardian Antique on the 888 Last*

Edward Green’s MTO program allows you to work with existing patterns, leathers, and lasts to create an individual pair of shoes. You personalize it by selecting the colors, calf or suede, sole type, single, double or rubber and in about 14 weeks your shoes will be on their way to you.

As a special courtesy to our clients, the Edward Green single pair make up fee of $100 will be waived on all orders placed on the day of the event. This is a great opportunity to view many Edward Green styles in one place; I hope you’ll join us.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

On a warm fall afternoon a young man strolled past Leffot and casually came back to ask if we had any black and white spectators. At the time we had the Church’s Sidford in stock, but he was after something very specific he had seen and though it may be an Edward Green. I asked him if he had a picture he could send me, which he did;

And so I sent these to EG and they identified the style as the Cadogan. After some deliberation Mr. B decided to place an order for his pair. Well, they came in the other day and he was overjoyed when he slipped them on his feet.

These are on the 82 last and are very chic. One of the reasons I love Edward Green is the fact that their shoes are timeless, my guess is that the pictures were taken in the 1940’s or 50″s. I also love the fact that as the title of this post says “Ask and Ye Shall Receive”. Way to go Mr. B.

(side note) Upon closer observation of the picture of the two shoes under the table the brogues on the left look very similar to the Church’s Grafton.
