The West Village is one of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods in Manhattan. It is distinguished by streets that are “off the grid” set at an angle to the other streets in Manhattan sometimes confusing tourists, city residents and taxi drivers alike.
Waverly & Barrow are two of the most charming streets in the Village, which is why we took their names for our in house shoes made in England exclusively for Leffot.
Sizing – These shoes are UK sized in E width. Size down one whole size from your normal US size. The fit runs true to size.
If you’re anywhere near the vicinity of the West Village on Saturday May 9th I highly encourage you to come by and view the shoes of carréducker. Both Deborah Carré and James Ducker will be here and James will be demonstrating hand sewing, which in itself is worth the trip. This is the first showing of the carréducker collection in New York City and it promises to be a great event.
To get a sense of their passion for handmade shoe making I recommend watching this video of James in their London studio.
The October issue of GQ is on newsstands today. I’m particularly excited about the article; From “Cute” to Cool-the Rise of the West Village, because it includes Leffot on pages 134 & 136, calling us “A dangerous place” which I think they mean in a good way. It lists several other cool spots for shopping, drinks and food, many of which I eat at. The WV is one of Manhattan’s hottest neighborhoods and most confusing, they even include a small map to help guide you. Pick up a copy and enjoy the neighborhood.
